I am new to tuition, but I am confident in teaching primary-secondary math and science as I have been through all of these subjects myself, consistently scored high in them, and feel that I have a lot to offer students regarding my approach to the subjects, hoping they can find the same success in them. I plan to play the role of an ex-student who can show current students tips and tricks to solve questions, rather than of a teacher whose primary purpose is to educate.



I believe I do have an effective approach to teaching, even though I have not been formally trained in it. I have spent a substantial amount of time helping my family members in their schoolwork, and I always remain patient with regards to the student¢__Ô_æ¢s rate of learning. I always put myself in the students¢__Ô_æ¢ position during teaching, and try to explain concepts to them in a way that would make them easily understood by the students, rather than in a way that suits the teacher¢__Ô_æ¢s flow of logic. I find the use of analogies rather helpful in teaching; encouraging students to view questions from another perspective often leads to a more effective understanding of the topic.

Since my secondary school days, I've had a knack for leadership which enabled me to take up many roles that require teaching, coaching and guiding my peers and juniors. These experiences have reinforced my leadership skills, further instilled self-discipline and imbued me with a strong sense of mission.

Currently, while pursuing a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance, I spend a portion of my free time giving tuition to secondary school students. I have substantial experience teaching a range of students from lower primary to upper secondary levels. The vast majority of them have improved their grades and successfully graduated with good results.

I strongly believe that teaching should not be done by dumping information onto the student and hoping that he/she absorbs and understands the subject matter. When tutoring a student, it is important to get to really know and understand him and establish proper communication as some of my students can be rather shy. And It is important for them to voice out any confusion and questions that they might have during the course of the lesson. All questions are welcome from my students and I even encourage them to question the mechanics of how things work as a way of building a sound understanding of the subject instead of just plainly memorising questions and answers for tests and exams. Ensuring that the student is comfortable with the environment is key to learning and I always work towards making it as conducive and effective for them.
