Experience
Worked as an admin for a private tutor as a part timer after O levels, such as marking homework and corrections. Did tutoring during year 1 in JC for a P6 student, she made improvements tremendously during to extra practices and drilling for her math. During one of her examinations in school, she is able to apply what she has taught in tuition during her exam and managed to score full marks for MCQ.
During my secondary school, I'm given an opportunity to be teaching P6 students from Siling Primary School and received Siling Primary Mathematics Department Collaborative Programme certificate.
The students who were attending the tutoring sessions were weaker in their math and they seemed to enjoy my lessons as Im able to make it interesting for them. Currently, still a student.
A small introduction about myself, personally I’ve strong determination to teach students as I’ve passion in teaching and my strongest subject is mathematics. Hoping to be a teacher after graduation. Seeing students getting stellar results is a form of satisfaction and achievement for me. I’ve started teaching my juniors in secondary school without any income, this allows me to experience and allows me to see if I’m able to teach.
Because being good in a subject does not mean one can teach well. But I’ve seen improvement in my juniors scores. I’ve taught three juniors and my tutee. Two juniors were in Normal Technical and another was initially from Normal Academic and entered express in secondary 2.After teaching them, they managed to score A and minimum a B. My Normal technical juniors usually failed their math, but after teaching them, they’re able to score A which allows them to be TOP 10. They used to detest mathematics a lot, but through my strong determination and passion to teach them, they love math as a result.
As for my tutee, she managed to score at least a B for psle but managed to score full marks for one of her paper before psle. Initially, she didn’t have interest in math at all, but after teaching, her interest in math grew stronger. Now proceeding to secondary 1, math became one of her strongest subject.
