I have 1 year experience teaching a Secondary 3 student on Pure Chemistry. He struggled to pass his Chemistry paper when I first joined. He was not really motivated to study the topic as he did not like his teacher. He refused to ask her any questions when he was in doubt and did not enjoy learning the subject at all. After finding out the reasons and the areas that he was lacking in, I worked on the foundations, targeting the areas that he was weak in, and find ways to motivate him - to see scoring good greats as something beyond liking his teacher. I'm pretty glad that his grades improved along the way and was achieving A1-B3 towards the end.

Currently teaching Maths in Canberra Primary school I was previously in Jiemin Pri. Math and Music Tutoring since 2008 and teaching piano since 2010 and other subjects. I am patient and understand that every student requires a different teaching approach in order for them to learn. I have had experience with students who are slower in learning where in this case, diagrams and models will be more useful to them. My usual approach will be to assess the student's previous exam papers during the first lesson and identify the mistakes made and any doubts they have. With this, I will have a better understanding of the student's weakness and be able to come up with a detailed lesson plan and going through certain basics if it is necessary. Many of my students are siblings and have been with me for few years from primary to secondary school. Techniques and overall musicianship is very much emphasized rather then the normal notes. For these years, my students obtained merit and distinction for both theory and practical.
