Experience
Hi! I’m Raven, a high-achieving graduate with a strong passion for math, science, English and helping others learn. I bring both academic excellence and real-world application to my tutoring. I come from a strong academic background in Biological and Life Sciences, with a Diploma with Merit in Biomedical Sciences from Singapore Polytechnic, and Bachelor’s of Science in Life Sciences (Hons) and a minor in Public Health from NUS, I’ve worked in various healthcare and research settings across Singapore including Health sciences authority (HSA), National parks board (NParks), and National university of Polyclinics. My current role is a Scientist working with a CDMO, leading projects with global pharmaceutical clients e.g. GSK, EliLily etc. on novel drug purification projects. Moving forward on my academic journey, I will be pursuing Masters in Finance with NUS.
In the Malaysian Certificate of Education (SPM), I earned 8 A+ and 2 A, with A+ in all STEM subjects, including Mathematics and Additional Mathematics. I later graduated from Singapore Polytechnic with GPA of 3.992 out of 4 as the All Eights Gold Medalist of my cohort, receiving multiple prestigious awards such as the SP Excellence Award, Director’s Honour Roll (3 consecutive years), Sysmex Asia Pacific Award, and the Diploma-Plus Book Prize. In my undergraduate studies from NUS, I have received multiple Dean’s Lists award throughout the semesters.
Throughout my academic journey, math, science and english has been a core strength. From excelling in pure mathematics during secondary school to applying biostatistics and quantitative research methods in tertiary education, I’ve developed a deep understanding of both theoretical and applied math. I have also had the experience in helping peers and junior students with academic writing, editing, and presentation preparation, especially non-native English speakers who need help expressing complex ideas fluently and professionally.
My tutoring style is student-centered and tailored to each individual’s learning pace, strengths, and goals. I employ a range of teaching techniques, including visual aids, interactive discussions, problem-solving exercises, and real-world examples to deepen understanding. I strongly believe in active learning and encourage students to think critically and ask questions. For subjects like science, I often use diagrams and analogies, along with exam-focused answering techniques to help students build both conceptual clarity and exam readiness.
