I am a Singapore citizen and was teaching Chinese Mandarin both as a foreign language and a native language for more than 20 years. I have experiences teaching Mandarin and Chinese language in the public schools, private schools and international schools locally and overseas. In the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, I had been an Examiner for Language B Mandarin for about 5 years at Invictus international school, teaching Chinese as a foreign language & Chinese as a second language. In teaching the IB DP program I also have had substantial experiences with IB Diploma Mandarin in different modules including SL, HL & ab initio levels. My most recent IBDP teaching experience was in United World College ISAK Japan where I was teaching Ab initio Mandarin. In all, I have substantial experience teaching other programs such as Cambridge IGCSE Mandarin, Cambridge GCE ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels Chinese language, IB Diploma program, Special Program (Mandarin) in schools such as Chatsworth International School, ACS International and NUS High School of Math & Science. Essentially, I have experiences teaching Chinese in primary, secondary and high school settings both locally and internationally. I am also Primary Years Program, Middle Years Program, and Diploma Program trained and have been attending professional development training regularly. The most recent ones being IBDP Mandarin category course in March 2018 and PYP training October last year.

I enjoy teaching Math and seeing students grow in confidence in the subject. All students have different abilities and learn at different pace, so I start by understanding each student, then varying the pace and the level of difficulty of assignments. For example, one P5 student came to me with very low score, so I focused on basic concepts and accuracy with him. For another P6 student who came to me with about 60 marks, I focused on problem solving techniques and this student improved to an A grade for PSLE that same year. I have taught both group classes and one-on-one lessons to a range of students from P2-P6, and some secondary math. Currently, I teach Math part time, with a view of going into full-time in the near future. Here's what one recent student wrote : "The way you teach, I can understand very well, n lessons are engaging. I feel that I understood concepts n methods of doing the problems more easily after u taught me. The way/tips you taught me, I find them simple but effective, and was easy to apply.

I have 2 years of tutoring experience for primary school and lower secondary English and Mathematics. I also was a relieve tutor for K Planet Tuition Centre for 6 months. I have experience in teaching creative writing and have won first place in the Creative Horizon creative writing competition as well. I also was part of a buddy reading programme for slow learners and primary school students who struggled with English as it was not their first language. My students were from Bukit View primary school and Yuan Ching secondary school. There was significant grade improvement in most of my students after one semester. 1. I will involve the parents after every session to give them constructive feedback. I also promise to create a friendly environment where your child feels comfortable to ask questions and clear his/her doubts.
