Hi there! My name is John and I am an IB 44 pointer graduate, Medical Student (on scholarship!) and I am keen to teach your child. My field of expertise lies in teaching chemistry and biology at the IB (HL/SL), IP and also GCSE levels. My teaching style focuses on packaging the content in a structured and clear manner, underpinned by relatable real-world examples and practice questions. I have taken a number of students under my wing, and they have each improved substantially in their grades as well as an appreciation for the subject. For the IB examinations, I scored a 7 in both HL Biology and Chemistry for IB and maintained a very reputable score for both subjects during my schooling years at ACS (indep). I undertook multiple IA reports for both subjects, conducted an extended essay (research paper) in Chemistry and even ventured into Chemistry olympiads. As a medical student, I encounter science on a daily basis. I would use my privileged experience to help your child appreciate the real-world applications of what they are studying. Beyond that, I am experienced in university applications, and would be keen to mentor your child n his/her application process, be it related to the medical field or not. I believe I am a suitable tutor for your child and I am keen to get in touch with you and work out a schedule that best fits you and your child’s needs. I’ve been tutoring Chinese and Mathematics to tutees from kindergarten to Secondary since 2018. For Chinese (O-level) my tutees are mainly from Kranji secondary, their initial result was C6 and their final results range from B3-A2*. For Chinese (N-level) my tutee(Indian) is from CHIJ (Katong), her initial result was U and her final result was A. Taught K2 Chinese to Secondary 4 Express and NA Chinese within 2019 to 2021. Interactive lessons are conducted with the use of videos (oral and Kindergarten Chinese), reading skills, answering techniques and composition writing. Currently (2023) teaching P1 HCL from CHIJ and P3 HCL from PeiHua.

Over the course of my experience, I have taught multiple students from various levels. Relevant to lower secondary level, I have tutored 3 secondary 2 students for Maths and Science. 1 student was from the NT stream and 2 students were from the express stream. NT stream student - improved very well in both of the subjects taught. Initially was barely passing maths at C6 - she managed to score B3 for her EYE. For science, she was scoring between C5-B4, and she managed to improve to a B3 grade as well for EYE Express stream student - Has been getting a C5 grade, I was able to identify her weaknesses and we worked consistently on drilling topics. She managed to get an A2 and qualified for A-maths for her streaming. As for science, she has been getting a B3 - we were able to maintain this grade for EYE as well - as the concepts taught became more complex.
