Experience
MOE Relief Teaching in March 2020 @ Catholic High School, teaching English and English Literature.
Taught P2 to P3 Chinese for 2 years with the same student, improving her grades remarkably from 0 to 20 marks in her spelling tests to 80-100 marks. Her teacher was also very pleased with her Chinese, albeit being Indian from an English & Tamil speaking family. This child was then brought over to the sole Higher Chinese class available in her school.
Taught K2 to P1 Chinese with the same student. I only started taking on this student from the second half of august in his K2 year, right before he had to attend Primary School, with his knowledge of Chinese being minimal to none. From not being able to count 1 to 10, to being able to write sentences and provide a full description of the oral picture, this child definitely improved alot. With the intense training I was able to provide, over online tuition, I managed to connect his personal hobbies and interests to the language which definitely helped to motivate him and stay seated longer to listen through the lessons we had. This student is also an Indian from an English and Tamil speaking family, thus had no one to interact with him in Chinese, or assist him in his learning of the Chinese language.
More than half a year teaching K1 English and Phonics to a girl from a mainly Chinese speaking family. Managed to get her interested in the language and to start doing some writing practices and training exercises. Engaged this child with several fun activities related to her language learning, such as the use of arts and crafts. Managed to get her to go from climbing window railings, to liking me as her tutor and be willing to sit by my side for us to conduct the lessons proper.
