I was teaching English & Maths in West View Primary School and now a private tutor with more than 8 years of teaching experience. I am now teaching in a tuition centre as well. Currently, I have students from Chongfu, Huamin, North View primary schools. Previously also teaching students from Northland primary and other schools too. Being a teacher, my primary aim is to engage and motivate pupils in their learning. I devised my lessons and teaching materials to suit the different learning abilities of each pupil. I tried to conduct my lessons in various ways (eg: ICT-related lessons, use of songs, show and tell, dramatizing, use of manipulatives, hands-on activities and groupwork). I provide feedback or updates to parents on their child's progress via face-to-face, phone calls, e-mails and Edmodo (an ICT platform) from time to time. Every year, I was given a class of on-level ability pupils, with at least one with special needs. It was challenging, but I tailored my learning activities to maintain the interest of above-level ability pupils, keeping in mind not to intimidate the pre-level ability pupils. Watching how the children progress in academic and non-academic areas give me a great sense of achievement.
