Experience
I am a special needs educator at Pathlight school teaching autism students.
I have been teaching English, Maths and Chinese for 5 years plus and am currently tutoring a Primary 1 and Primary 4 students.
When giving tuition, I like to treat the student as a friend, like we are discussing our homework together, because I don't want students to feel that I am a teacher to them and so they must do what I tell them to.
If they feel that there are room for improvement they can voice out to me. I like to start the tuition by giving them spelling tests for languages, follow by giving them past year papers to do and ending the tuition with storybooks.
There is this Primary 1 student who dislike chinese a lot but after giving her tuition twice per week, her chinese grades have been improved from fail to 63 marks. I feel that it is important that the student also put in effort and not only rely on the tutor for help. It is necessary to have a tutor guide the student if the student is weak, but if the student refuse to do the tuition homework and read up on his/her own free time, then having tuition is useless.

My Qualification

My Teaching Subject(s)

Experience
I teach exclusively Chinese, schools are neighbour ones, they were failures but passed their PSLE and O Levels after i taught them for a few years.
As a Chinese and a native speaker of Mandarin, I did well for the subject yearly since Primary school. Being a Chinese, I also love Chinese culture. The love of my native culture and competency in the language led me to pursue a Diploma in Chinese Studies, which i subsequently acquired English-Chinese Interpretation Skills and excelled in the subject. The skill was further put into use when I pursued my degree as I translated volumes of Chinese language materials into English while I wrote my honours thesis. Thus i am competent in guiding a native speaker of English who wishes to learn Mandarin and Chinese.
I also taught Chinese to a Sec 3 student from Dunman Sec school and Grade 4-6 students from international schools.
