Information about myself :



- My father taught me maths since i was young and like some of the other children, I did not excel in maths when i was a young boy. I struggled to do maths assessment books day after day but to no avail and still, the grades did not improved. I went for various maths tuitions but still, it did not help me.



With all this, I felt that there was something wrong in the ways which I approach the problems faced. The problems can be simple to solve but the tricky part is the understanding of the english within the statement in which most children fail to understand. I am a very hands-on person by which, I like to think out of the box to solve various problems faced especially when solving maths questions.



I believe that everyone has their own methods and ways which we prefer to solve questions. By giving children the various methods on how to solve the different maths questions, they can be familarise on how to not only approach the problem, but also know how to apply different methods which can be used to solve the problems. For myself, I prefer to use the model method which is the drawing of tables to represent numbers or even units. This method has been one of the fundamental methods and till date, schools and various tuition centers have still been using it to teach children how to use this method to solve the questions.

I have thought a student from Sec 3 to Sec 5. I have focused in subjects such as Physics, Maths, Chemistry and Tamil. I have vested interest in especially Physics and Maths, After teaching her, her weakest subject, Maths had shown improvement from C6 to A2 in exams.

I have taught tpjc and jjc students before. There are improvements especially for the tpjc tutee who had been struggling at first to cope with h2 maths, he managed to be consistent with his results.

Even though I have no experience in tutoring, however, I think that I can relate to the coaching experience I have during my secondary school days where I helped my peers whom are weaker in their Chinese Language.
Hence, what I first do will be to find out areas where the student is weak in, then set that component as a priority. To give one example, if the student is weak in oral, then I will provide him with additional materials such as textbooks or some articles from assessment books to read. In this case, I will coach the student to pay attention to punctuation, how to be more expressive when reading certain sentences which requires emotions. At the end of each article, I will also encourage the student to express his/her view on the article, sort of a reflection. I believe that in this way, it can help to stimulate more thinking and analytical skill in the student, while encouraging him/her to be more verbal. However, if the student is weaker in writing or remembering Chinese character, I will write down all the characters as a spelling list and test him/her on the next tuition session.
As for how I am going to conduct my lesson, I will use the first half hour on any homework or school work that was assigned to the student and that he/she had required help in. After that, I will move on to the component he/she is weaker in (Writing, Oral or Han Yu Ping Ying). After that, I will then assign homework to be completed for the next tuition session.

Though I might be new to tuition, however, I really hope that with the knowledge that I have acquired from my course of study, I will be able to assist the student to learn as much as possible. In addition, I am confident to overcome any obstacles with patience, determination and tenacity. Hence, I really hope to given an opportunity to try out on this job. Thank you.
