I began giving private tuition in 2010. I revised my 'O' and 'A' level syllabus and started giving tuition to earn some pocket money in my free time. Gradually, I grew to love teaching more and more, and it became something I looked forward to on the weekends, even through university with my extremely busy schedule. It felt more like a hobby or past time rather than a job. However, what gave me immense satisfaction was not the teaching of content alone. I encouraged my students to question everything, and ultimately their questions became 'why?' instead of 'what?¢__Ô_æ¢ and they began to ask more critical questions regarding their curriculum. Soon, they even questioned the syllabus and education system itself. Having gone through the system itself, I could appreciate their point of view. My engineering background enabled me to answer their questions easily. As an engineer, I can fully appreciate how my twelve years of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education fits into the grand scheme of things. I have applied most of it during the course of my Engineering degree, which finally enlightened me how all the science and mathematics I have learned before applies in real life. As an engineer, I was able to share how all their knowledge and skills were applicable in the real world, and help them find a purpose in going through whatever they were going.

I have taught approximately 8 students for A levels and O levels since 2010. My most recent and longest student (Charlene Tan) was able to improve from Cs and Bs to 3As for her A level H2 Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. More importantly, she was able to get into Aerospace Engineering at NTU, something she became passionate about through her A level studies. I'm happy to have inspired my students to see past their exam results and understand why it is important for them to learn and grow.

I have had experience tutoring underprivileged children. I graduated from Raffles Institution and would like to help other children excel in their studies now that I am free to do so. For IB: I taught one student from ACSI (went from 4 to 6 points for prelims) and another from an international school. Also recently taught a student who is studying in Australia IB programme and was back for the holiday. For A-level: I taught many JC1/2 students in neighbourhood JCs and IP schools for H2 biology and Chemistry.

I've did peer-peer teaching in secondary school. My friends have said that I've helped them much in clearing their doubts over studies, but other than that I've not done any other form of teaching/tutoring in the academic fields of study.

I can teach all the subjects (EMath, Bio/Chem combined). I have had 1 year experience teaching Math to a student from Hougang Secondary and another year teaching Chemistry to a student from Montfort Secondary. They managed to achieve their targetted goals at the end of the year.

Current JC teacher I'm teaching at SAJC and I teach GP. I am currently teaching J2 so am familiar with the new syllabus and new questions I have full resources of notes and past year exam papers to share with students. I've also taught at MJC for 1.5 years before going to NIE. Before this I taught Research and Writing at a university as well as group tuition. My distinction rates are about 50% out of 9 students. I tutored IP track students from Dunman High school. I taught them from sec 3 to A Levels. One Got A the other got B (used to fail LA/GP).
