Further details:
I am a former school teacher with experience in online classes and one-to-one face-to-face lessons. My students know me as a fun and engaging tutor who makes subjects come to life through a variety of methods including stories, demonstrations and hands-on experiments. Critical thinking and questions are always encouraged in my lessons.
Patient and committed, I understand students come from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Some need to listen to explanations more than once. Others need a firm hand to ensure that they do their work. Yet for some, a little cajoling and encouragement could perform wonders. I tailor my lessons to fit each student and partner together students and parents to meet their specific goals.
My psychology degree (Hons) from NUS helps me to understand students better and work through their problems. I believe that engaged, motivated and self-directed students perform best and it is my aim to nurture such students so that they no longer need any form of tuition.
Students have seen marked improvements in their results. Many go on to achieve distinctions in taught subjects. My purpose has been to create a solid foundation for their future success. I believe that results will come naturally with the right strategies and techniques. More importantly, I nurture students so that they learn to enjoy the learning process and can push themselves to learn both in and out of the classroom.
