8 years of combined experience in a variety of settings; notably in 1-to-1 setting or in a classroom setting where I was the dedicated demonstrator/instructor during my BSc, MSc and PhD days. Consistent with my academic qualifications (PhD in Biological Sciences, NTU Singapore), I am well-versed in both contextual knowledge and up to date advances in the fields Thus far, I have mentored 4 students and their details are surmised as below 1. Ngee Ann Polytechnic (Diploma in Biomedical Sciences) - I have mentored modules that include immunology, biochemistry and biostatistics. All 3 grades prior to me mentoring were either borderline passes or direct fail grades. Within a short span of 3 months (the typical duration of any module in polytechnic), the student has achieved an average of B for all 3 modules. 2. NPS International School (IB HL Biology) - Student approached me with a borderline fail grade, recent prelims has shown that his current standing is a 4 out of 7. With the recent finals having concluded, the student feels that achieving a 6 (his ideal grade) should be doable. 3. Australian International School (IB HL Health Sciences) - Student approached me with the overall intention to do weekly intensive revision. To my knowledge, his grade is a 5 out of 7 - but wishes to improve to a definitive 6. With over 5 years of experience in academic tutoring, I have had the privilege of mentoring children from a local shelter, supporting students from Primary 5 to Secondary 4 in their academic journeys. I recently graduated from Eunoia JC and am waiting for university where I will be enrolling into NUS Business administration. Additionally, I have received offer from NTU double major biomedical and biobusiness programme, hence showing my passion for math and science. I have experiences teaching mostly my relatives mathematics, often helping my cousins to understand specific math concepts. My teaching method is catered to the different needs of the student as I will often start by looking at students past works to analyse what I need to focus more on during lessons. I am patient and have a strong sense of responsibility hence I will only tutor subjects I am certain I can benefit students in. I will also provide notes that I have personally used for my students. I am also willing to help out with school work as well. Before teaching my students, I will first read up on the latest syllabus for the year to ensure that I am up to date on the topics taught and hence will only apply for subjects that I am confident I can effectively teach the topics learnt.
