I am a current IGCSE and CIE school teacher specialise in POA and Accountancy. I am currently with Ascensia International school. Previously I was teaching in St Francis Methodist school (2015-2018) for both IGCSE O and CIE A.. Pass rate 60% onwards for Chinese speaking students 90% with 30% distinction with English speaking students I have been in the teaching profession over the last 20 years where all my students developed a better understanding of the subject upon my tutoring. I have taught in both government and private institutions including the polytechnics. The success of my teaching does not limit to improvement in the grade alone for many of my students have progressed to pursue a career in the subject I have taught. I was also a lecturer in Current: East Asia Institute of Management. Tutored students from SP and Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I’m Fernando Ng , I am from Indonesia. I have been studying in Singapore since 2015 in one of private school in Singapore. I met Mr Joseph Tan when he taught Accounting in my class. In 2015, I took IGCSE programme and at that time I totally did not have any clue about accounting. Fortunately, Mr Joseph with his interesting teaching method easily help me to understand the course better and in 2018 I took IAL programme and Mr Joseph was also taught me accounting and I really did what he taught me and gained A* for accounting course. Mr Joseph is a very friendly,humurous,strict and caring person. He knows when the time to be serious and time to make a joke and laugh. His teaching method is very simple such as PAY ATTENTION to the lesson and DO THE EXERCISES which given by him and do not need to concern whether the answer is right or wrong. When I’m struggling on the lesson, he always encourage me until I realised that I must not give up. In 2017, My Grandma passed away and I couldn’t focus on the lesson at all. Mr Joseph knew that incident and told me to take few days off from school to go back to my hometown to attend my grandma’s funeral. I remembered that Mr Joseph told me that nothing can replace family while knowledge can be learned anytime. Therefore, those words were really touched me and I went back and after that I was able to gain my concentration on my study.

I have been teaching for more than 6 years. So far, I have taught 20 students, from Primary Schools (English, Mathematics and Science) to Secondary Schools (Mathematics, Geography, Physics & Chemistry), Polytechnic (Engineering Mathematics), and Junior Colleges (H2 Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics). I am well aware of the syllabus and is always up to date with the curriculum, as I have peers in the teaching industry and they will share with me their updates.  My students always show significant improvements over a period of time. It is almost impossible to always see miraculous improvements in the tutees' subjects. Because most of the time, when the students are underperforming, it may be due to their studying habits and methods being unsuitable for the subject matter. It takes time and practice to cultivate the appropriate way to study. My aim is always to ensure that the students enjoy learning, and not just memorizing the syllabus. If one is going to spend a large amount of time studying, they might as well try to make it enjoyable! As a holder of the institution's Nanyang Scholarship, I take pride in making sure my students are always keeping in pace with their school's teaching, and making sure they master what is essential for their examinations. I love to inspire my students with their educational choices for JC/Poly, as I have attended both types of education systems and is most apt to share with them the differences in learning styles, the expectations of each type of education system, and most importantly, building a rapport with them as 'friends' more than a student-teacher relationship.   I like challenges and always will go an extra mile to learn and relearn any content that I am teaching. Previously, I have also taught a Mechanical Engineering student about Polytechnic's Engineering Mathematics, as well as Precalculus for SAT.
