Am a Physics and Mathematics teacher who has an insatiable curiosity in metaphysics. As a tutor, I coach students to learn effectively according to their personality types, strengths and goals, in the process, they score better grades and feel empowered. So that your child feels supported in their learning and you (parents) can have peace of mind. I coach students in General Science, Mathematics (Primary and Secondary) and Physics (Secondary). Coaching means that I focus on helping students in a holistic manner. I assist students to become aware of their own learning habits. Students develop learning strategies that are effective for them under my guidance. As a teacher, I would often ask myself “What were my students missing to score well?”. This prompts me to explore approaches to help my students learn. Students feel empowered when they have the tools. All of my students improve by at least 2 grades and feel confident. When my students become confident learners, it brings me joy and satisfaction. My training during my Masters in Counselling, I understood how important it is for a person to feel safe. Hence it is important for students to feel safe during their learning journey. I remind myself to stay aware of my own construct and conditioning to hold space for my students.

I am an effectively bilingual Singaporean who has experience in tutoring Lower and Upper Secondary students in Chinese and English since 2014. I can start immediately and have no problem committing a minimum of 1 year to a tuition assignment. My students have seen marked improvements in their results by a minimum of 3 grades since I started tutoring them. With a consistent A2 grade in school for Chinese and B3-B4 grades for English, I have also completed stints in English-Chinese translation and Chinese broadcast journalism at Mediacorp. I am constantly on the lookout for new, creative and engaging ways to teach languages, and to sustain my students' interest in them. These include conversation starters with students such as current affairs, news and popular culture. I also keep parents updated on their children's progress by giving them periodic updates to build trust and assurance that their children are in good hands. I keep myself updated with the latest curriculum by doing my own research, looking at current textbooks, past year papers, and also speaking with students and education practitioners within my own network. I believe that a good tutor not only teaches, but also inspires his/her students to cultivate their love for the subject as well. The tutor should also act as a role model for students to look up to, not just pertaining to the subjects taught, but also in other aspects of life.
