At present, I have 5 years of experience teaching P4 and P5 Mathematics tuition. 1-year experience teaching P1 and P2 level Mathematics. When teaching Mathematics, I like to use questioning techniques to check for the child's understanding. Also, I like to use manipulatives and different teaching strategies (cubes/ cards/clocks/paper cut-outs for shapes/songs) to engage the learner. To me, basic understanding of mathematical concepts are the foundation of the child's learning. I will not hesitate to revisit or check their understanding even though the child says they have learnt it. Learning takes place in many forms other than written practice. There will be lots of lively discussions when I am giving tuition, so it will not be a quiet session. I accept feedback readily and am willing to listen to any concerns parents may have.

I have no experience in private tutoring but I frequently helped my peers in school when they had doubts and I helped a friend jump 3 grades in Math (IB) after tutoring them. - 4 years of teaching experience as a private tutor - I have experience teaching primary school students, some of whom were diagnosed with ADHD and ASD - Important: I will be able to commit long-term, but there may be a need to do online lessons (either on Zoom or Discord, according to client's preference), as I might be going overseas for my undergraduate studies in August 2022. Note that I will keep the lesson days and times the same even with the switch. - I have mostly been teaching IB and JC students online and some classes in person. - Most of my students that came to be failing saw exponential progress after several sessions as I put emphasis on the fundamentals which maximises the student's potential to excel in the long run. - For language subjects, I help my students develop all-rounded flunecy in the subject which would help them gain confidence and eventually score very well in the subject. - I provide notes and materials to be useful as it provides them with concise summaries and gives them a ideas they can use for their coursework. - I taught a JC student who was failing H2 Math 1 to 1, and she ended up progressing very quickly after a few lessons, as I helped build a strong understanding in the concepts behind each topic, and her strong understanding of the fundamentals coupled with constant practice in turn allowed her to solve many higher-order and novel problems. - I was in the IP stream, hence I am familiar with the IP syllabus for subjects I teach.

I had tutored a primary 2 kid for Tamil who currently is in Sec 1. His love for the language grew and currently taking Higher Tamil in secondary school. He was scoring a high C for P2 and managed to get a distinction for PSLE 2020. I’ve grown better in terms of language understanding and teaching skills as i’m currently taking my diploma in tamil studies with early education. I was also going back to my primary school to take up Tamil supplementary classes before COVID hit. I’m also tutoring 4 other Primary students within my distant family for Secondary Tamil and lower primary mathematics. As a graduated student myself , i’m familiar with the syllabus and expectations. Even though my other subject’s grades are not fantastic , my tamil has been straight A’s since primary school .
