Hi my name is Suman. I am Indian and a SG PR. I have done my PhD in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, NTU Singapore. I can speak English and consider myself to be friendly, kind and patient. Please don't worry about language barrier. If you can speak at least the bare minimum of English, I can manage smoothly. I am interested in teaching mathematics, especially at the secondary level. I like to play tennis in my leisure. I have been a Teaching Assistant in the undergraduate program of NTU for a year. 1. Tutor's qualifications I specialising in Chinese Language. I was from a SAP school in secondary school and JC (IP school), under the prestigious Bicultural Studies Programme scholarship. After A-levels, I went to Peking University (China) to read Chinese Language and Literature. 北京大学 is ranked number 1 in the course "Chinese Language". 2. Teaching experience I have rich experience in both MOE schools and tuition centres. I did my internship at MOE, where I taught Sec 3 Express and Sec 3 NA Chinese Language. More recently, I was posted to another secondary school and taught Chinese Language to 3 classes (Sec 1, Sec 2, Sec 3), under a contract. Apart from which, I have more than 4 years of experience in tuition centre and home tuition. Students have shown marked improvement after lessons (testimonial attached as pictures above).

Currently I am tutoring 5 primary school students in mathematics and 1 sec 4 student in mathematics and POA. On top of that, I am also a freelance coding and robotics teacher for primary school students. I was an assistant teacher in a pre-school enrichment centre for 1 year where I provided guidance and taught pre-schoolers logical thinking, chinese and mathematics. Furthermore, in poly, I joined a program to tutor my peers that need help in their academics. I am confident in chinese, mathematics and POA. During secondary school, I scored As for chinese and POA. I have one year experience conducting voluntary tuition sessions under my university's Roteract Club , CUP@JKRC, providing online e math tuition to a Secondary 4 Express beneficiary living in a lower income household in Singapore. Under my teaching and constant revisions with him, his grades for his prelims improved to about 70 percent. Now I am doing online e math tuition sessions for a Secondary 1NT beneficiary under the same club, while taking charge of level coordinating the secondary 1 tutors in the club. I am currently a year 3 undergraduate going to be year 4 next semester and my school term starts on August. I am keen to try on giving online or physical tuition classes as a part time job while pursuing my studies in NUS during my free time to earn some pocket money. I can take on tutoring math in secondary and tertiary levels as well as university level math modules which I have done well in like linear algebra.

I have little experience in tutoring but when I tutored my brother in lower primary English and Maths his grades did improve from C to Bs and then an A and i have also tutored relatives here and there and they have found my tutoring in English to be sufficient to see improvements in their grades. I am very fluent in English and I love to engage students with any tools that catch their attention and retain for as long as possible and i always enjoy getting them to ask questions and to also have fun while learning because that helps them to learn better. I enjoy using quiz games like kahoot as well to test their knowledge and to give them a sense of achievement if they get a good score. I also like to use educational videos to enhance their learning and make their learning more enjoyable and memorable.

My N level students have improved drastically in their N level results from a fail to a B3 and my O level students have their grades improved from C5 to an A2. I’m very patient with my students and I have lots of experience with teaching maths. As a N level student myself, I got distinction in N levels and also in O levels. Hence I know how’s the curriculum like and I also have my own tips and methods on how to do well for N and O level students. Till today I have my own set of techniques and methods which I teach my students which they feel are very useful to them. I do my best to make teaching maths very fun but I also don’t forget to make sure that they get their grades that they want. My students have told me that with my teaching, they do love maths more and they don’t fear any maths problems anymore which shows that what I’m doing is on the right track.
