I have taught at Kumon for 2 years, providing guidance to my colleagues on teaching and marking as well. The subjects I have taught are Math, English and Chinese. Ranging from 5 to 16 years old, the highest level I have taught is Sec 4 Math. I continued teaching at Mindchamps, where I taught English and phonics to younger students below 10 years old. I have taught 4 students with autism from special schools. P2, P3, P5 and P6 I have also handled children with autism in my 2 years experience at Kumon. The students with special needs were from pathlight school. For one of the students with autism, he managed to maintain his grade while I was teaching, between A and B. In home tuition, I am currently teaching 2 students with autism, on English Chinese and math, p4, p5

I have a vast experience in not only teaching/coaching students but also managing their behavioural challenges as a psychologist. This experience includes working with those with special needs and varying personalities. During my undergraduate years at NUS, I regularly volunteered in various children/youth centres to guide them in their academics, including English, phonics, Chinese and Mathematics. There, I gained 4 years of teaching/coaching experience with children aged 6-12 (K1-P6) both in a group and 1-to-1 setting. This includes children with special needs (eg. GDD, ASD, ADHD). Afterwards, I started working as a psychologist at special needs schools. I spent 2 years of working experience being a psychologist at SAAC and Fei Yue EIPIC, where I conducted both classroom group and individual teaching sessions with children aged 4-18. Currently, I am teaching K1-P6 tuition for the subjects English, Mathematics and Chinese. I teach and follow closely based on the MOE syllabus and have an equal number of students in each subject.

Current Position: Poly Math lecturer My academic foundation was laid at River Valley, where I completed my O-levels, and Raffles Junior College for my A-levels, achieving exceptional results including full marks in A-math, E-math, and Physics during my secondary school prelims, securing 7 A1s and 2 A2s at O-level, and 4 As at A-level. My passion for mathematics was further recognized through accolades such as the Gold award in the Singapore Secondary School Mathematical Olympiad (Senior Section) and a second team prize in the Singapore Mathematical Olympiad. I advanced my studies at the National University of Singapore, where I earned a Master’s Degree in Mathematics. Since 2008, I have been nurturing JC students through private tuition, accruing over a decade of experience that has thoroughly familiarized me with the JC math syllabus (9758), its predecessor (9740) and H2 physics (9749). My approach is characterized by a deep understanding of the challenges students face and the common errors they make. My teaching philosophy centers on demystifying complex concepts by starting each new topic with a concise summary to provide a solid understanding of the essential concepts and a clear overview. I then introduce the common methodologies for the topic, guiding students on choosing the appropriate approach. Through hands-on examples from their tutorial worksheets, I help students categorize problems and gradually develop their problem-solving skills. I can provide tailored materials upon request. My strengths lie in immediate problem resolution, allowing students to bring forth any queries they encounter for prompt clarification. This approach has not only helped in making challenging concepts more accessible but has also been instrumental in enhancing my students’ mathematical proficiency and confidence.
