I joined the Heartware Tuition Programme as a volunteer to teach primary 5 students for Tamil and foundation mathematics. When students do not understand a question or the explanation, I will try to explain in different ways until they understand a particular question. I can work at the students’ pace. I have 8 students: primary 2 (mathematics), primary 3 (Tamil), primary 5 (Tamil), primary 4 (Tamil), primary 6 (English, mathematics, science), primary 6 (Tamil), sec 2 (Tamil), sec 3 (Tamil) I also taught a special needs child, a primary 6 student in my church who has SEN (speech delay) and still teaching him now.

I was a full time English teacher for 13 years in Yishun Town Secondary until Nov 2022. I have current resources on the new EL syllabus 2020. I've English resources for the current syllabus and I'm familiar with assessment requirements for lower sec G3-G1. I can prepare customised resources for my students to help them for their weighted assessments and exams as I'm very familiar with how classroom teachers conduct summative, formative & alternative modes of assessments. In between assessments, I have EL resources to build up language skills in Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening and grammar. I have taught Sec 3-4 NT, NA and Express the previous 10 years. I specialise in 1 to 1 coaching for Writing, Reading, Speaking and Listening skills. I understand what markers are looking out for in a good essay. I can familiarise students with the various questions types and text types for Writing as well as Reading. For lower secondary, growing their confidence in speaking and presenting is key to doing well for Orals. I know how to help students structure their ideas in a coherent manner and present them fluently and confidently.
