I was teaching English & Maths in West View Primary School and now a private tutor with more than 8 years of teaching experience. I am now teaching in a tuition centre as well. Currently, I have students from Chongfu, Huamin, North View primary schools. Previously also teaching students from Northland primary and other schools too. Being a teacher, my primary aim is to engage and motivate pupils in their learning. I devised my lessons and teaching materials to suit the different learning abilities of each pupil. I tried to conduct my lessons in various ways (eg: ICT-related lessons, use of songs, show and tell, dramatizing, use of manipulatives, hands-on activities and groupwork). I provide feedback or updates to parents on their child's progress via face-to-face, phone calls, e-mails and Edmodo (an ICT platform) from time to time. Every year, I was given a class of on-level ability pupils, with at least one with special needs. It was challenging, but I tailored my learning activities to maintain the interest of above-level ability pupils, keeping in mind not to intimidate the pre-level ability pupils. Watching how the children progress in academic and non-academic areas give me a great sense of achievement.

I have been teaching piano with experience of 6 years and have handled kids at age youngest 4 years old. Always focus on foundations and techniques first before proceeding more quickly in terms of the different pieces. I strongly believe in good foundations and techniques and work hard in correcting and improving students' playing methods. It may be a slow progress initially but the effects are good. Students play well and have less strained on my fingers due to having right techniques. I have students taking grade 3 ABRSM piano practical scoring merit and also distinctions in grade 2 theory exams. I interact well with kids of young ages and knows how to get their attention. Patient and I don't mind repeating theories as long as students are willing to learn. I know how to build up the passion in them for music and also many enjoy playing music after changing their teacher to me. I have a lot of performance techniques students can acquire gathered from lots of performances experiences.

Graduated in 2012 with a Diploma with merit in Psychology from Temasek Polytechnic. Relatively fresh to this field with 1-2 years of experience. Started taking up adhoc tuition assignments during polytechnic days and after graduation.

I have ABRSM grade 8 and been teaching piano since June 2011 but already possessed a track record of 100% passing rate.

Due to my experience of teaching class at Cristofori Music school, I do believe that I now have the needed expertise to teach any class of specific size with finesse and tact.

As my past and current students are between ages 3 to 30, I do believe that I am more than qualified to teach students of all ages. My lessons will be personalize and specifically designed to the student needs and attune to his/her learning curves, so learning would be progressive and meaningful.

I believe that empathy is key to reaching out to students and certainly have the patience to teach your child or yourself with skill and discipline.
