Self Description

I graduated in UK, majoring in Accounting, Business and IT. I worked in finance and taught part time in UK for many years. My major is Maths. I love the challenge and wittiness of Maths. My goal is to make students love Maths. I love teaching and always find myself making good friends with my students and their families. It is very rewarding when I have students thanking me when they passed their exams.

Proven Track Record

Usually I will assess the students first so that I can gauge which methods I should apply. For primary school students, usually I will draw or set quiz. In this way,children will be more attentive and enthusiastic as they treat these quiz like games. I believe keeping student interested is a way to motivate them to achieve higher goal.I taught Pre-Uni courses in university when I was in UK. These were preparation courses organised by my university for international freshers who wanted to get into their first year. Besides working as a Part Time lecturer in UK, I also did private home tuitions since 1998 in Singapore & UK from age of 3 to 16 years old. Currently, I am giving private tuitions from Primary 1 to 5. Different top school SA papers will be given to students to do and i will walk through with them on tricky questions. I will also prepare my own quiz to students on the subjects, which they are weak in, so that they are more confident and that aware of the different scenarios in the exam. One of my best and deep accomplishments was a primary 1 student name Jeralyn Leong, from Hong Kong, achieve a B (previously a F) in her English and Maths. I taught English to a few foreigners particular Italian and now they are in ISS. I also have experienced in teach young kids. I used to teach Arts young kids from age 3 to 6 every weekends in Jurong West when I was in Polytechnic.

Achievement

I was the top 5 winner in West Zone Singapore and top 20 scorer in International Maths Quiz in 1994 in Australia. I had participated a few competitions such as creative writing and science clubs events. I took part in 1998 Hewlett-Packard Global Business challenge and SES (stock exchange) competitions and got through the final stage.
