I am a NIE trained Chinese Language teacher, and have more than 10 years of teaching experience in local primary schools. My teaching classes ranged from Primary 1 to Primary 6, and Low Ability (LA) classes to High Ability (HA) classes, and Foundation (FCL) classes to Higher Chinese (HCL) classes.

I am on NPL in 2017. Prior to this, I was teaching in Palm View Primary School from 2006-2016.

I am bilingual, and I am able to employ effective bilingual teaching strategy when teaching students who are weak in Chinese Language but conversant in English.

I have a Master degree in 'Instructional Design & Technology' from National Institute of Education (NIE). I always like to integrate the use of ICT in the teaching of Chinese Language, so as to make learning more engaging.

Last but not least, I had spent a few years in the Ministry of Education (MOE) Curriculum Planning and Development Branch (CPDD) Primary Chinese Unit working on Primary Chinese curriculum, namely textbooks, workbooks and related educational resources. After which, I was posted back to school and was appointed as the covering HOD (Head of Department of Chinese Language) of a good Primary School in the East. Armed with all these experience, I am very familiar with the Singapore Primary school curriculum, PSLE exam requirements, local Primary school exam standard and requirements.

I was teaching at Poi Ching Pri School up to 2013.
I had 2 years of experience teaching upper primary core subjects (ie. Eng, Math, & Sci), and 6 years of experience teaching private tuition. I am keen on helping students one-on-one to improve their level of understanding and application, and most importantly, their interest in the respective subjects.

For English, I believe in building a strong foundation for my students' grammar and vocabulary. As such, grammar rules will be taught and reinforced, and the dictionary (iPhone app) will often be used during (& after) lessons to inculcate the good habit of looking up unfamiliar words. For Math, I believe in practice and more practice. As such, my students will often be exposed to other schools' exam papers, in order to sharpen their skills in tackling various types of Math questions. As for Science, I like to use the information on the Internet to explain certain key concepts to my students as it helps to train up their independent research skills and engage them better in the subject.

I am committed to teaching for up to a school year. After which, it is up to the parents to decide if they want to further enlist my help in following up with their child. I believe that every child is teachable as long as you're able to customise a teaching method that suits their entry level and learning style. After that, it's just building on the foundation that has been laid. Therefore, a strong foundation is paramount in every child's education.
