Experience
I have about 5 years of experience teaching primary maths. I have taught students from ACS and Hong Wen. Grades wise, I'd say jumping a grade at least is usually not an issue but i do tend to focus on foundation more, to reap more long term results, instead of endless practices which I feel should only be applied when all fundamentals are clarified and strong.
I also taught as a relief learning facilitator in a special needs school - Rainbow centre, they mostly take in students with Autism and multiple disabilities. I have been teaching there for about 1 year, and mostly working with students with autism. I have worked with students of various profile ranging from the age of 7-18
I have 14 years of experience teaching students from many different countries, such as Japan, Korea, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. I have helped many cross their language barrier and excel in their studies too. And at the same time, gain many valuable experiences interacting with students with different needs - some facing the stress of excelling in gifted programs or famous schools, while some struggling with conditions of hyperactivity that affects their ability to focus and even some that comes from disadvantaged families. Nevertheless, I meet many students that are between these extremes, which are those that lack motivation to study, getting ever so wrung dry from the restless education system.
For my students, I aim to help them to enjoy the process, appreciate the subject, have fun doing it, finding back their motivation, and racing together with them towards their exams. Depending on the initial grades of these students, they usually jump 1-2 grades up, and show significant improvements.
For English, recent top students from Sec 2 IP girl from Cedar Girls school and a Sec 4 ACSi student.
I taught GP to students from VJ, MJ, CJ AC(I) and they scored As/Bs for their A level exams
I also taught IGCSE int'l students from Singapore American School and ACSi.
My students usually improve by 1-2 grades at least.
I usually prefer working closely with the parents to help their child gain the best out of their education. Thus if need be, parents can feel free to check in on their child's progress.
