I was a volunteer tutor at Macpherson Tuition Project since the start of 2014. I mainly teach primary 3 to 6 students mainly in English, Math, Science and Chinese.

I have taught more than 5 students and can teach in small groups. My main method of teaching involves allowing students to analyse the problems first before giving various hints in solving the questions.

I make learning fun by arousing the students' attention with topics related to their age group to get them interested in learning. I also thrive to ensure that the learning environment is as stress free as possible by occasionally making jokes and giving tangible rewards to make the students happy. Occasionally I would also use nontraditional teaching methods to educate the students. For example, I would get individual students to give a short presentation about themselves to the other students. This is to help boost the student's verbal skills and confidence.

In my lessons, I impart not only knowledge of the syllabus but also examinations skills to improve the mental state of the student. Every student has a different set of strengths and weaknesses thus my pre-exam pointers are customized to suit each one of them. The objective is to boost their state of mind and focus on specific key objectives to improve their confidence and understanding of the subject. The end result, a happy and confident child, ready for more challenges.

Proven Track Record
Students from Macpherson Tuition Project have improved not only in their grades but also in terms of discipline and social skills (Presentations). I believe we need to be an all rounder, in our grades and character.

Currently, I am teaching 11 students - P3(S), P3(E/M), P4(E), P4(M), P5(S), P6(M/S) X4, S1(E) and Dip(Fin Mgt) comprising of 8 boys and 3 girls.

I have just completed my degree in psychology and thesis on 'Occupational Stress' at James Cook University, Singapore. I have also been a part-time home tutor for 4 years and tutored at clearminds tuition centre in 2015 (PSLE science), where students obtained good grades. I have taught both primary and secondary school levels. I ensure that my tutee is comfortable enough to clarify doubts and I try my very best to make the lesson as interesting as possible. Also, will ensure that their foundations are strong so as to build up their confidence in the subject gradually. I try my best to collate materials to help my students in areas that they are weak at and encourage them to use materials such as mindmaps. Additionally, I have also worked as a relief class support at St. Andrews Autism Centre and interned at Teck Ghee Care Corner where I co-faciliated in school social work programs. I enjoy teaching and working with youth/children.
