I've graduated from NUS High School and wish to give students tuition primarily in the STEM areas. I believe that Science and Math form a major part of the MOE syllabus, and since I have studied both disciplines with depth, I feel I can make a positive difference to my student's grades. Until now, I have done a large range of tutoring projects, from teaching children at a volunteer centre to AP Chemistry. My teaching philosophy regarding Science and Math is that one should really understand what is going on in the chapter. If the students have some sort of even a small question regarding a concept, the way Science and Math works is that, that doubt will compound over time, and the student will not be able to understand the majority of the chapter. Then, he/she would start to dislike the subjects and avoid it, leading to their grades dropping in those subjects. If I were to teach, I would ensure that the students first understand every single detail in every topic of the subject. Great results should soon follow. This is my style of teaching. I am a pretty laidback and very friendly person, so if the student has any doubt I will be more than willing to answer at any point in time. All I would expect of my student is to not be distracted during the lesson and try to finish whatever homework I give.

I'm a full-time tutor specialized in A Level & IB Math, existing students from Australia International School, RI, HCI, VJC, TJC, over 10 years of teaching experience, ex-Asean Scholar, Member of Mensa Singapore. Currently I have one taking IB HL from Australia International School, my other existing students are taking SG A level. Last 3 years, I have taught another 2 students taking IB HL, with both scoring 6. The recent batch of 22 Math students in 2017 & 2018 have made significant improvements in their results, with most of them scoring A and B in their A level, prelim and promo exams. Mr Kuah would go through a Mathematics topic first by explaining the topic with his own self-made notes before letting me practice his selection of math questions - a mixture of both his own created questions and questions deemed challenging or will allow me to grasp concepts easier. When nearing examination dates, Mr Kuah would always target my weaknesses in specific topics and give practice questions relating to the specific topic, helping me deal with the said topic. Mr Kuah's teachings coupled with the large amount of questions done have helped me built a solid foundation in Mathematics, allowing me to deal with questions that might have a different or weird phrasing or even some questions that are totally different but still have a relation to topics that I have learnt before. I have been teaching for more than 6 years. So far, I have taught 20 students, from Primary Schools (English, Mathematics and Science) to Secondary Schools (Mathematics, Geography, Physics & Chemistry), Polytechnic (Engineering Mathematics), and Junior Colleges (H2 Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics). I am well aware of the syllabus and is always up to date with the curriculum, as I have peers in the teaching industry and they will share with me their updates.  My students always show significant improvements over a period of time. It is almost impossible to always see miraculous improvements in the tutees' subjects. Because most of the time, when the students are underperforming, it may be due to their studying habits and methods being unsuitable for the subject matter. It takes time and practice to cultivate the appropriate way to study. My aim is always to ensure that the students enjoy learning, and not just memorizing the syllabus. If one is going to spend a large amount of time studying, they might as well try to make it enjoyable! As a holder of the institution's Nanyang Scholarship, I take pride in making sure my students are always keeping in pace with their school's teaching, and making sure they master what is essential for their examinations. I love to inspire my students with their educational choices for JC/Poly, as I have attended both types of education systems and is most apt to share with them the differences in learning styles, the expectations of each type of education system, and most importantly, building a rapport with them as 'friends' more than a student-teacher relationship.   I like challenges and always will go an extra mile to learn and relearn any content that I am teaching. Previously, I have also taught a Mechanical Engineering student about Polytechnic's Engineering Mathematics, as well as Precalculus for SAT.
