I have 10 years of teaching experience in a top 5 JC. Subjects I have taught are IP syllabus mathematics, H2 Mathematics, H2 Further Mathematics and H3 Mathematics. I also have 12 years of tutoring experience, with students ranging from Sec 3 to JC2. Some examples include, but are not limited to: 1) a JC student who improved from E to A after tutoring him for two years, whose parent also requested me to tutor his younger sibling in the future, and 2) a Sec 3 student who was already intending to drop A Maths at the end of Sec 3, but made a decision to continue taking A Maths in Sec 4 after I tutored her in Sec 3 because she saw significant improvements in not only the subject but also motivation level. I strive to have my students learn and improve through developing conceptual understanding in the subject. Where possible, I will bring in real-world contexts to serve as motivation on why certain areas of mathematics are relevant and important in today's world. When my students encounter difficulties in certain topics, I do not believe in taking the easy way out by spoon-feeding answers, but would make the effort to build up on the student's prior knowledge with the goal of eventually understanding the required concepts in the topic. This will go in tandem with the honing of the necessary techniques in each topic to build mathematical fluency.

I was home tutoring my cousin who was in p5 before I started working at Fuhua Student care centre as a mentor for the children. Have worked for 8 months from jan to Aug this year. The job scope requires helping students from p1-6 on their hw or any problems they faced in sch. I am quite familiarise with the math topics as I stayed with a p4 class for more than 3 months. Most of their math results are between average to above average as they were from the second best class in the school. My cousin who was from Jurong primary on the other hand took a while longer to improve from a C grade to a B grade in a few months as she was a slow learner. Side note: I am an alumni of keming primary sch as I graduated there and went back there sometimes to help the teacher

I have 3 months experience teaching Secondary 4 E-Math and A-Math. After giving tuition to a Sec 4 boy, his grades improved from C6 to A1. Unlike other tutors, I prefer having students do problem sets before reviewing it together to identify and rectify any issues instead of simply going through topics.

I have been teaching English, Maths and Chinese for all levels. All students that I have taught achieved at least an A grade in their final exams, despite starting with a weak foundation. Those that were already coping well with the subject scored high A1s. Many had seen great improvements in their grades/assignments within weeks. They gave feedbacks that they have significantly improved their language skills and carry fluent conversations. I major in Chinese Language & Translation, 2nd major is Theatre Studies in English. My students enjoyed my lessons, and did very well in exams, even for those who are with me for less than 6 months prior to the finals, they could go from D/E/F to A/B! I am responsible, patient and passionate in my teaching, which is interactive and engaging. I am experienced in identifying the gaps in the student's understanding, and able to explain any topic from scratch, in a way that students are able to follow the reasoning clearly and hence find the key concepts easy to grasp. I encourage the student to reason and look for connections using the basic concepts, hence enhancing the student's confidence and efficacy in solving challenging problems. I enjoyed teaching my peers since a student. During my postgraduate studies, I prepared tutorial materials and tutored full-time and part-time undergraduate students on various subjects in Mechanical Engineering for four years. I was a teaching assistant in NUS for full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate students on subjects related to control systems and neural networks. We are not allowed to know the students' grades. However, I have received feedback from several students mentioning their satisfaction and gratitude for my tutoring. I tutored Mathematics to students in P3, P5, and Sec 3 for nine months. Typically, my students' grades started as a fail and improves to beyond pass after a few months of tutoring. I adapt my communication style to the students' preferences and encourage the students to think about the methodology instead of memorizing the solution step-by-step. If appropriate and given permission, I may work on the student's relevant skillsets instead of focusing on the school syllabus. Sometimes weakness in the relevant skillsets becomes the bottleneck in the student's learning process, focusing on these relevant skillsets can indirectly improve their grades.
