I am a newcomer who is proficient in Chinese and Mathematics. I have just completed my A-Levels and am waiting for the results and my NS enlistment. Might only be able to teach for a few months. For Chinese, in PSLE, I obtained an A+ in Chinese and a distinction in HCL. In secondary school, I won several Chinese Essay writing competitions. I also took on the Bicultural Studies Programme and its scholarship and Chinese Literature in sec 3 and 4. I obtained A1 in O-Level HCL and a distinction in oral. I also clinched the top in Chinese Literature in my cohort that year. In JC, I took Chinese Studies in Chinese as a subject. For Maths, in PSLE, I obtained an A+. In secondary school, I joined the Mathematics Interest and Talent development programme, which honed my python and math olympiad skills. I also took part in a few Mathematics Modelling Challenges, and I was awarded distinction for the International Mathematical Modeling Challenge. I also clinched the top in E-Maths that year. In JC, i took part in financial maths module as part of my interest towards Maths, and have also scored straight As in H2 Math from J1 MYE TO J2 Promos.

I have 8 months experience working as a Mathematics tutor at Math Vision Enrichment Centre, from December 2021 to August 2022. During my time at Math Vision, I have gained valuable experience on how to conduct both physical and online lessons. I have also picked up on how to effectively interact with children and young teenagers to motivate them in their studies. With the help of other senior tutors, I have equipped myself with various other teaching skills such as lesson planning, how to prepare coherent and easy-to-understand materials, and how to give constructive feedbacks. I have taught more than one hundred students, ranging from primary school children to secondary school and high school students, with most of them coming from international schools such as Singapore American School or Dover Court International School. Many of my students saw significant improvements in their test scores, and often gave me an excellent rating for the lesson (Math Vision has an online rating system where the students can give a rating for their teacher after each lesson). My teaching philosophy is simple: The most important thing about education is not grades, but understanding. I always make sure the students can understand thoroughly why things are done in a certain way, and the importance of each working steps before proceeding. I believe that is what will give them the foundation to solve more challenging problems in the future by themselves.

For home tuition, taught students mostly from Hwa Chong International School and Raffles Institution (high school), as well as BCM GP for students in MDIS & private A level candidates Grades for secondary school students generally improved from B4 to A1/A2, and for A Level candidates, grades for general paper improved from U to B, for Mathematics U to B, and for Chemistry E to A (best results so far) For group tutoring, students grades generally increase from 50% to around 70-80% depending on how regularly they attend sessions. These sessions are held by PA in jurong Experience tutoring with EduHope SG @ Yuhua Community Centre with primary school kids, ranging from Primary 2 kids to primary 6 kids. Experience tutoring secondary 3 and 4 students as well. Rapport building: Most of my friends tell me that I am very friendly and understanding as a person and I interact well with others because of these traits. I personally feel that I am pretty empathetic and meticulous when doing work, as well as when teaching students. As for rapport building with the tutees, generally, I prefer to use the first session to get to understand the child's needs and struggles with their academic studies, as well as the areas they may be weaker in, also to get a rough gauge on how to best engage the child. I would also consult the parents in terms of certain needs the child has, or teaching methods he/she prefers as well as how he or she best learns.

I have experience in tutoring primary school children as well as assisted in script marking. The biggest grade improvement among my students was a primary 2 that went from band 3 to band 1. As I was also a DSA student via badminton, I was exposed to several leadership opportunities and experienced having to juggle multiple commitments at once enabling me to become a more holistic and determined individual.
