I have experience with Mathematics (E Math and A Math) ever since I was in Secondary 4. Throughout my secondary 4, and 5, and international baccalaureate years 1 and 2, I have been tutoring struggling students in areas of O'Level and IB Mathematics. Tutoring in Mathematics have been a strong passion of mine and I love to be a part of my student's success journey. Having studied English Language and Linguistics (ELL) in JC, a specialised subject only offered to selected students who have shown excellence in pursuing the language, my love for English grew exponentially as I developed a passion to spread my knowledge to others. In my time as a JC student, I was awarded the subject prize for ELL for having topped the cohort. Throughout my 2 years in JC, I was also a recipient of the English Language Elective Scholarship. I have taught my friends and juniors since primary school, being in various peer mentoring and learning buddy programmes. Furthermore, I have voluntarily tutored my family friends' children since secondary school. Though only spending a short amount of time, many of them managed to improve so I truly believe I can benefit your child as a tutor. Having been a student myself, I can truly relate to the struggles your child might face while learning and cater my teaching style to them.

I graduated from NTU Accountancy and immediately went to PGDE in NIE the following years. I was a former teacher who taught in Temasek Primary, Eunos Primary and Damai Primary before I eventually resigned. I am extremely well versed in teaching Maths. I have a lot of heuristics to assist a student in solving word problems. My mantra is not about using the best method but the most suitable method that your child can reproduce in exam condition. I have been giving tuition since I was in JC. I used to teach all subjects but recently, I specialised only in Maths. I am very strict, systematic, and process driven. Every lesson would have a clear objective with a particular type of question to be reinforced by the parents. This would be communicated via a simple notebook. This way, the child would definitely improve. 1.5h or even 2h a week is never going to cut it unless there is proper revision. I am looking forward to value adding your child should I be given the assignment.

I have had 7 private students throughout my 2 years of tutoring experiences as of now. 3 of them were from my former pri school (2 P5s, 1 P2) and 4 from my high school (Nanyang Girls High School - 2 Sec 2s, 2 Sec 3s) For me, my students’ grades, interest in the subject and ability to grasp the concepts at the end of the day are my utmost priority. I believe in adjusting one’s pedagogies to fit every student’s needs as there is no one-size-fits-all learning style for all people. Therefore, I strive to understand their areas of weaknesses in the subject before devising a suitable teaching plan for them to maximise their learning potential. As a side note, 2 of my students have managed to achieve a feat of grade improvement from B4 to A1 by the end of their sec 2 year, which I strongly credit to both their hard efforts and my patience & eye for detail. I will not hesitate to prepare additional revision materials as and when required.
