As part of my IB Diploma service hours, I participated in St. Joseph Institute's CAS UPSTAR Tuition, where I supported underprivileged primary students with their English through a reading program. After IB Diploma Examination, I flew back to Hanoi, my hometown in Vietnam. Taking advantage of the long holiday, I became a part-time tutor for MDuyCenter. I tutored a student for him to prepare for ASEAN scholarship. The scholarship is eligible for late secondary students from Asean countries. Moreover, with 4 years of studying in Singapore and Mathematic Olympiads obtained, my parents' friends trusted me with tutoring their children different subjects from English to Mathematics. I also tutored aVietnamese junior from ACSI (IB year 2) Economics to prepare for his upcoming examination and his Internal Assessments. I have had a wide range of experiences with students from different levels and backgrounds.

During my diploma and undergrad studies, I taught three Primary 5 & 6 students in English, Maths & Science until they have completed their PSLE (specialising in Maths & Science). In my experience, students tend to underperform in Maths & Science because they couldn't grasp the basics/foundation of the topic being taught. This will bring up more issues in future when they advance to more difficult topics later on. Thus, in the beginning, I will take my time to revise back the topics one by one with my students making sure that they are well understood first. I also help my students with their homework upon request and will provide my own materials (namely past year school exams for the students to try out). Usually past year exam papers from other schools have more challenging questions for the students to test out their understanding of each topic. These papers will also help to build their confidence as they will learn to see the patterns of solving similar questions. My expertise is in helping students develop scientific intuition so they are not solving problems from memorisation but rather acquiring skills to solve problems from secondary level and beyond.
