My goals are to help students learn and to teach them how to learn.

I will always encourage people to learn and never stop learning. Because throughout our lives, learning is important. The younger a person can appreciate learning and education, the more they can learn in their earlier years.

First I will find out what the school curriculum requires of their students. I will also use papers that the student himself has done to find out their understanding of a certain topic and to improve his understanding on that topic.
My way of teaching is to always find out how much the student understands a certain topic and to make sure he understands with as much repetition as he needs.
My priorities in teaching are to help students understand the concepts behind the subject and understand questions. If he can understand the concepts and how to answer questions, it will become very natural for him to score in his results.

Over time I will discover the student's personality and change my methods to suit their needs. For eg. if he has short attention span, I will not burden him with many different topics in one sitting. I will keep hammering the same concept in different ways to make sure he understands before moving on to the next. Attention span will gradually improve as people get more experienced.

I will also endeavor to develop a good relationship with students, because with good relationships naturally people will pay more attention to teaching and try to be more obedient.

Above all else, I am a strong believer in inculcating life values. When I am able to form a good bond with the student, I will definitely find opportunities to teach him good values and to display them in his daily life.(Eg. not to hurt people/obey your parents/no cheating even if theres a very good opportunity to cheat to score better)

Being a co-trainer for the past year in my line of work helps me to better meet expectations of students in their studies. A big part of my work involves training new staffs in soft skills and SOPs. I have to set test papers for quality assurance, weekly pop quizzes and other 'did-you-know' campaigns to stir up interest in learning and improvement within the department and organisation.

I've seen performance jumps in my students in PSLE exams and most importantly, their confidence when tackling seemingly unfamiliar questions. To-date, I have taught students from the kindergarten, primary, secondary and ITE levels.

I focus on the foundation and essential concepts of all the subjects that I teach. I will break down the concepts of learning into smaller components so that my students are able to grasp and understand better, especially for students who have difficulty following in class. After which we will reinforce the lessons by practices. The first lesson will be more of a familiarisation for both my student and I. I will go through their homework and other concepts that the student needs help with before establishing the grounds of teaching. I am extremely patient and approachable, which is very good for students who feel frustrated that they could not grasp the concept of the subject. I am stern yet amiable so most of my students do not have a problem with reaching out to me to express their problems on a given subject. I go through recaps of previous lessons before embarking on a new lesson as I believe that students generally improve through reinforced learning.

I also incorporate creative writing activities for my students and with my background in theatre, I help students who have difficulty in reading with the right emotions and intonations by reading to, with and for them. I will be taking my Level 2 Teaching in Phonics in 2016.

I also currently tutor Phonics and Reading to kindergarten students to help them catch up for Primary 1.

I was trained by the Principal examiner for IGCSE EFL. I returned to Singapore in October 2015.<br> <br> In my fifteen years as an English teacher, I have a proven track record of helping pupils attain stellar performance in GCE O levels English and IGCSE (English as a First Language). <br> 100 % of my students scored distinctions in the IGCSE (English as a First Language) in 2012 while 81% and 95% scored distinctions in the GCE O levels examinations in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
