I am a goal-driven and highly competent Primary School English teacher with more than 10 years of experience. I taught in Maris Stella for about 8 years where I specialised in teaching English in the Mid and Upper Primary Levels. As such, I am extremely well-versed in the curriculum and pedagogy of teaching English, and have engaged students of varying abilities throughout the years. In Maris Stella, I was also one of the few teachers who were entrusted with the responsibility of teaching the top-performing classes and have a proven track record of optimising student performance. In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I held the positions of Subject Head for Character and Citizenship Education (2013 - 2015) and Primary 5/6 Year Head (2015). On top of being a PSLE marker from 2009 - 2015, I was also chosen to be an Assistant Supervisor during the PSLE Marking Exercise (English Paper 2) in 2015. Hence, I am very familiar with the marking conventions and requirements of each component of the PSLE English Paper. My experiences have made me confident in my abilities to value-add to the learning of all my students as a private tutor. I take pride in being good at building excellent student-teacher relationships to help my students maximise their potential and reach their individual goals. Many of my ex-students and their parents, whom I have great working relationships with, will attest to that. Since I started tutoring full-time in 2016, all my students have made significant improvements and almost all have achieved at least an A for their PSLE English.
