My tutoring experience includes nearly 8 years of formal classroom teaching - presently a teacher in a Junior College - and over 10 years of privately coaching students across primary, secondary, and international curricula - IP, IGCSE and IB besides Cambridge GCE. I customise lessons carefully to suit each learner’s pace and ability. I provide well-structured materials of graded difficulty levels, consistent feedback and regular communication with parents to ensure steady progress.
I have also worked long-term with pupils of diverse learning needs i.e. those who may be neurodivergent (e.g. on the autism spectrum, dyslexic, GDD etc.) which has strengthened my patience, adaptability, and clarity in instruction and pedagogical presentation and execution.
I prioritise cultivating confidence and self-belief in students, as academic growth is often most sustainable when students feel empowered in their own abilities.

Emphasizes making learning an enjoyably comfortable, non-dreadful process as students will definitely retain concepts much better, rather than learning in a mundane (conventional) environment. Quality of lesson delivery, while, will not be compromised.
Takes time and is very patient in correcting any misconception in pupil's understanding before teaching any new concepts. This will prevent unnecessary trouble and wastage of precious time in fixing any erroneous thinking in future.
Innovates/Modifies teaching to accommodate student's speed and ease at picking up new concepts e.g. coming up with own/consolidating FAQs across primary school exam papers.
Has also dealt with a few pupils with behavioral impairments that might make "conventional" learning difficult / unsuitable for them. My response would be to tailor the lesson and materials to suit and complement the students' preferences and needs instead, rather than simply force "route" learning upon them (when they are already struggling academically). Also, I am a firm believer of a strong teacher-pupil relationship as kids would be more receptive to a teacher who is both a friend and a mentor, someone they can look up to and/or even confide in.
Passionate and able to help students perform better in their academics by forging a lasting teacher-pupil relationship with them. Drawing from my own past and personal experience as one, and from the feedback of my ex-pupils, students would feel more comfortable and hence encouraged to seek help in their studies when the environment is a conducive, stress-free and motivational one for learning. Rest assured I will still maintain my professionalism as a teacher throughout. I am also very open to feedback / comments from parents and I will do my best to cater to their demands, in addition to their child's.
Have helped all my kids improve in the subjects / areas they have engaged me in, and delivered results parents are satisfied with (I have helped kids who have been failing to pass in 2 months of tuition as a newly hired tutor (see progress reports as mentioned above), and likewise for those who wish to attain mastery ('A'/'Band 1') in the subject they're being tutored in). Innovates and adapts teaching styles on a discretionary basis to suit each child's needs Also equipped with resources aplenty to assist kids in their learning (I work with my mom who has 30 over years of tutoring experience in kindergarten and primary school, with the bulk of her expertise centered on the latter - we have a tuition room set apart in our house for her students). Currently 17 students on hand, aged P2 to P6 (International students aged Grade 2, 4 and 5 from SJII and AIS) being tutored in English, Math, and Science. Tutor's Personality: Resolute believer in building relationships with primary school children before dispensing the professional duties of a teacher. I fully trust in the element of personal connection and touch with students as an effective gateway for both them and yourself - a teacher, mentor, and coach - to receive and impart knowledge meaningfully. Passionate and sincere about the teaching profession as I firmly believe in the potentially vast extent of influence a teacher has on her kids, being responsible for their holistic development as an individual of character and with respectable values as a person, not just being solely accomplished in their academics. I prize the growth of my child's character and the blossoming of his(/her) own identity/personality before his grades (e.g. I often help to build and bolster their confidence in their weak subjects first, rather than simply having them do questions after questions in a mundane, and often meaningless, manner). Only when he has regained his self-confidence would I move into honing his technical skills of interpreting and answering questions. Nonetheless, I also observe the professionalism and technical competencies expected/demanded of a teacher and would hence not shortchange them of any opportunities for learning or neglect their areas of weakness in the subjects they are being tutored in.
