I have been teaching students with autism, aged 7 to 10, in a Special Education School for 6 years and have experience in tutoring Mathematics for Primary 6 students in mainstream schools. I have a Diploma in Special Education from NIE. I believe in supporting different learning needs by using the materials used are adapted to the students' level and having informal assessments of their understanding so as to identify areas that require more focus. I also encourage my tutees to make notes of important concepts during my tuition sessions to reinforce their understanding and promote self-learning in the long run.

I have taught in Victoria Junior College for H2 and H3 Mathematics from 2005 to 2022. My usual methodology will begin with trying to find out what a student knows about a particular concept, or what so they want to know about a particular concept, It could be them trying to teach me how to solve a problem, while i ask questions to probe their understanding. After the gaps in content have been identified, we will proceed to breech the gaps using materials that their school has provided, supplemented with other resources if necessary. Nearer to exams, I usually focus on exam techniques such as psychology, time management and question reading.

I am currently teaching in St Anthony Canossian Sec school. I have taught in Mayflower Sec, Dunman Sec, Sengkang Sec in Singapore. I majored in mathematics degree. I had taught in Singapore government school and international schools in China and Indonesia. I had tutored China students before and they enjoyed and understood my lessons more effectively and efficiently as I was able to translate the question to the students. Students who are weak in English language welcomes that I was able to explain to them more effectively and understand their needs. Of course, we use English as the medium of communication. But they have it more effectively in learning with translation.

Current Position: Poly Math lecturer My academic foundation was laid at River Valley, where I completed my O-levels, and Raffles Junior College for my A-levels, achieving exceptional results including full marks in A-math, E-math, and Physics during my secondary school prelims, securing 7 A1s and 2 A2s at O-level, and 4 As at A-level. My passion for mathematics was further recognized through accolades such as the Gold award in the Singapore Secondary School Mathematical Olympiad (Senior Section) and a second team prize in the Singapore Mathematical Olympiad. I advanced my studies at the National University of Singapore, where I earned a Master’s Degree in Mathematics. Since 2008, I have been nurturing JC students through private tuition, accruing over a decade of experience that has thoroughly familiarized me with the JC math syllabus (9758), its predecessor (9740) and H2 physics (9749). My approach is characterized by a deep understanding of the challenges students face and the common errors they make. My teaching philosophy centers on demystifying complex concepts by starting each new topic with a concise summary to provide a solid understanding of the essential concepts and a clear overview. I then introduce the common methodologies for the topic, guiding students on choosing the appropriate approach. Through hands-on examples from their tutorial worksheets, I help students categorize problems and gradually develop their problem-solving skills. I can provide tailored materials upon request. My strengths lie in immediate problem resolution, allowing students to bring forth any queries they encounter for prompt clarification. Formerly teaching in Pei Cai Secondary school and left in 2004. I was able to achieve excellent grades for Math and Science subjects in my school years due to a deep appreciation for these subjects. Not only that, but I was able to imbue such appreciation to my students (those who were keen to learn and not just wanting to focus on grades), such that one PRC student, after graduating from Sec 4, actually told me that she fell in love with Physics because of my teaching. Besides teaching Physics and Math in secondary school as a teacher, I also tutored secondary students in E/A Math, Physics, Chemistry, as well as JC students in Physics and Math C.
