I have been teaching piano (Beginners to Grade 4) for past one year, my students ranges from pre schoolers to secondary school students. Also, i taught a primary 6 student English for 5 months before her PSLE. I am also a student facilitator for school educational events that are organized by Eka Student Training Group. I have interacted, given presentations and talks to classes of upper and lower secondary students (Hong Kah Sec etc), and also a certified camp trainer; I have done school orientation camps with first year students from ITE.

Currently learning grade 7 piano, with a qualified ABRSM (The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) of grade 5 theory and practical.

I have been working in a global industrial company for 21 years. I am an engineer and WSQ trainer in the company. My working comapmy is going to close at the end of Jun 2013. I have experience in teaching 3 groups of primary 4, 5 and 6 in a tuition Center in year 2006 and 2007 (*every Saturday and Sunday only). I also have given home tuition to 3 boys staying at Jurong west st 61. Now they are studying in SP and Jurong JC, the JC student's grade in Chinese was A1 in 2012.

Teaching style: I am a fun, patient and friendly tutor who is able to build rapport with students easily. I believe in building relationship with my students so as to better engage with them during lesson. I can be firm as well when needed. I use a lot of questioning techniques to stimulate thinking rather than spoon feeding my students with answers. I am able to break down lengthy and complicated problems into bite-sized chunk for students to easily understand. I use reward system to motivate my students to learn and many of my students love it. I may tap on additional resources such as video or power point slide presentation at times whenever necessary. I strive to help my students reach their fullest potential in their academic and prioritise moral values & character development as well. As a private tutor, i have the opportunity and believe in working with the parents/guardians as a team to help the child in achieving their goals. I am also experienced in teaching students with special needs (eg. Mild Autisim, Dyslexia, Receptive language disorder, etc). I have prior experience in school with managing special needs student in my class. I am tech savvy and experienced in using Zoom to teach online. I am able to write on my screen as i am using a touch screen tablet so students will be able to read what i write or highlight. I am able to convert material to pdf with camscanner if needed so students will be able to have a clearer picture of the assessment we are going through when doing online lesson. I am currently attached to two online teaching platforms where i am doing class tuition online as well. I have taught some foreign students (indonesian & china) who want to enter local school through the entry exam - AEIS of various level. All of them got into local school in their first try of AEIS exam.

I teach Maths, mostly, for Pri and Sec students. I also teach English to my Maths students who are weak in English when the parents request for it. However, I only teach up to P6 level for English. At present, my students are from CHIJ OLN, MGS and Oasis Primary School. My students start with me at different levels and different results. They face different challenges too. Most of the start with me because they fail Maths in school exams or because they are passing at the borderlines and have lost interest in the subject. Or they have siblings or friends who are my students and they witnessed the improvement in results and learning attitude so they hired me as their tutor too. Depending on their starting points and how long they have been with me, they are at different stages of development too. Everyone of my students has improved and is still improving. That's why they stick to me, usually all the way, until they graduate Sec 4, or until the parents can no longer afford my fees. This year, I have 5 graduating students, 1 Sec 4 and 4 P6. And 2 students (same family) moving to another location. Next year, I will be teaching 2 P4 students, 2 P5 students, and 3 S1 students.
